Our Dream

Passionate about Dogs

Our family has always had a huge passion for dogs and it has always been a dream of Pat’s to own a boarding kennels. Pat and her late husband Ian started from scratch alongside Pat’s brother-in-law John who built the first kennels here at Denford Edge. Ian passed away in 2013 and since then Hannah has taken a major role in the business.

Our Dogs

Compete Nationally in Dog Shows

Pat and Hannah own a number of Border Collies and a Pembroke Corgi and travel around the country competing at dog shows. Our dogs are registered under the affix Laceway and have all been very successful over the years.

Our Staff

Knowledgeable with Years of Experience

Our staff are very experienced in all aspects of canine care including college courses, degrees and first aid courses. However, we do strongly believe that there is no better experience than hands on and we are very proud of our long standing staff and the skills they have acquired over the years. Having the same staff also means that your dog’s get to know who is caring for them and build a relationship with us all.

Please let us introduce you to them…

Behind the Scene

Our Team

Pat Fawcett

Owner

My mother grew up on a farm in Ireland and had a passion for all animals. I have had dogs all of my life and competed successfully in high level obedience up until I met Ian and had my children. Whilst pregnant with Hannah we bought Denford Edge with my dream of building and running a boarding kennels. I have a fantastic team of staff that have been with me for many years which has helped create a wonderful environment. I class each one as a member of my family and they have helped make Denford Edge what it is today.

I have always helped out in the kennels from a young age but started full time when my father became ill. I have never known anything other than being surrounded by dogs and that along with the many hours of research has given me a very good understanding on the exact care our dogs need.

I enjoy learning about the veterinary side of care as much as I do anything else. In my spare time I travel across the country showing my own dogs and have won many top awards over the years.

I started working at the kennels in 2002 as a part time job to earn some pocket money during school. I never liked school so when I left and was offered a job, I decided to accept it and have been here ever since. After 4 years I was given the role of Kennel Manager.

In my spare time I enjoy watching TV, walking my dogs and going to comedy gigs or bands. I have grown up here and love the dogs. Denford Edge is like a second home and family to me. I am a perfectionist and my expertise is in making sure that everywhere is spotless!

I was studying an Animal Welfare course at college and came here to do my work experience in 2006, Pat then offered me a job when I had finished my Level 3 qualification in Animal Welfare. I was welcomed into the Denford Edge family straight away and have always wanted to work with dogs so the opportunity was perfect.

I specialise in caring for older dogs who need a little bit of extra TLC. My hobbies include movies, walking and good food.

I started working here in 2002 and am self-taught. I love working closely with the dogs, creating close and trusting bonds with the dogs I pamper. I love nothing more than to transform a dog and it’s very satisfying to see the final result.

I have been grooming for many years now and am always happy to offer advice on maintenance at home. I have 2 dogs of my own (Alaskan Malamutes).

Chloe

I started working here in November 2018 after completing a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Applied Animal Studies. I have always loved animals from a young age, so wanted to work within the animal industry. It wasn’t until I was studying dog behaviour for my dissertation that I became set on working with them; I found it a very rewarding subject to cover and am enjoying putting my knowledge into practise.

I’m the creative type and love to draw in my spare time as well as watching films and reading.

I started working here a year ago as a full time position was offered to me after having been at a cattery and kennels in Northampton. I studied Level 3 Extended Diploma in Animal Management at college where my passion for the industry grew.

Having the opportunity to work with a range of different species I have decided that dogs are all round the best! My own dog Lilly means the world to me and being able to care for 70+ is extremely fulfilling.

In my spare time I am an adrenaline junkie, enjoy going on nature walks and attending gigs/festivals.

We also work with Beryl at Albery Dog Rescue and look after her dogs. For more information about this great rescue centre…
